I am a caring, encouraging and creative Dyslexia tutor who holds full Qualified Teacher Status. I have taught a diverse range of children with a variety of needs. My considerable experience includes Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, Dyscalculia ASD, behavioural issues and children with English as an additional language.
I also hold a qualification in assessing students with Dyslexia (Diploma in Teaching and Assessing Learners with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties).
I have been fortunate in my teaching career as I have taught from Nursery to Year 13, both in the State and Independent sector. I have taught a range of subjects and have also been a Special Needs Co-ordinator.
My expertise revolves around supporting students with SEN. These students have a number of conditions that co-exist and they require specialist, dedicated support. However, I do support students who have Dyslexia on its own. I am also happy to tutor students that do not have any special needs but may just need an extra boost.
I love working with young people and seeing them achieve their goals. I appreciate that each student is different, so I always strive to ensure my tutoring reflects their individual needs, goals and learning style.
I will seek to spark the student`s interest in a subject. I often find that the best way to do this is by highlighting its relevance outside of an academic context. Once that eagerness is there, I believe confidence is the key to successful academic learning; I am generous with praise and do all I can to ensure my students feel empowered.
I also use precise assessments to identify weaknesses and target those areas for improvement. Using this method, I have found students achieve the best results and gain maximum enjoyment from their subject.
I have completed many assessments for Dyslexia across Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex. Some of the children, teenagers and adults I have worked with have been in the local areas of Guildford, Basingstoke, Bracknell, Portsmouth, Winchester, Petersfield, Farnham, Haslemere, Godalming, Camberley, Chichester and Brighton.
If you have any questions about my dyslexia assessments and support, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. I’m available by telephone (07818 063634) and email (enquiries@dscsupport.co.uk).
I look forward to hearing from you
